The Anti Knife Crime Fundraiser is to raise awareness and money to help tackle knife crime in Birmingham.
Activities include:
11.30am–1pm: U-16s football tournament and fun games and inflatables (cost 50p donation per player/activity)
1pm–1.30pm: Raffle draw and refreshments (50p donations)
1.30pm–4pm: Senior 5-a-side football tournament (£1 donation per player)

BBC3's "Free Speech" in Birmingham - 12 March
BBC3’s Free Speech is back, and looking to meet young people who want their voices to be heard.
This live political debate show, hosted by Rick Edwards, aims to give young people aged 16-34 a platform to voice their opinions to the people who can help make a difference. The first episode is on 12 March in Birmingham Central Mosque and will be focusing on the issues that you want to talk about. If you’re aged 16-34 and are interested in being part of the interactive audience, you can fill in this short online application form. You’ll need to be free from 5.30pm to 9pm on the day. Coming to Birmingham in November - The Skills Show
The Skills Show is at the NEC, 15-17 November 2012. It gives you a chance to:
- meet top employers and talk to real people about real jobs
- try interactive Have A Go’s, offering you the chance to try a bite-size taster of a new skill, trade or profession
- speak to experts from some of the biggest names in skills, careers, Apprenticeships and education, to get free, impartial advice
- speak to colleges, universities and learning providers from across the UK, about the different entry routes into a host of different career sectors.

Interested in a career in documentary filmmaking?
Are you aged 18-25 and interested in documentary filmmaking? Working in partnership with The Grierson Trust, First Light is offering free places on a new Second Light training Lab which will concentrate on documentary filmmaking. (First Light work with young people from a variety of backgrounds, developing skills in media production, and are based in Birmingham.)
This is a great opportunity for new entrants, aged 18-25, to work with experienced professionals to begin a career in documentary production.
The Lab will be held in Birmingham for 3 consecutive days (week beginning 28 May 2012) and participants will then attend Sheffield Doc Fest as part of their training and development.
Reasonable travel expenses will be provided to the workshops in Birmingham, as well as lunch. Travel to, and accommodation at the festival will also be covered.

Voice Is Power — Birmingham’s Young People’s Parliament
Voice Is Power is the formal citywide forum for children and young people in Birmingham. It is for anybody who lives in Birmingham and is under 19 years old.

Teenage magazines in Birmingham’s public libraries
Did you know that many libraries in the city have teenage magazines which you can borrow? Each library has chosen its own titles depending on the interests of the young people in the area. So whether you're mad on football or music, fashion or computer games you may well find something there for you...
Why not tell them which magazines you’d like to borrow by filling in the form at www.birmingham.gov.uk/teenagemagazines? Your comment will be sent to your local Birmingham library and will help to inform staff when they are choosing magazine subscriptions.
